I believe Spyro's choices after Year of the Dragon really branches off into seperate timelines which makes the other games canon in their own way. It completely kills the Rebirth theory imo. That if you consider them to be alternate timelines. That being said for the Rebirth theory to work the Morty's timeline, 'Ripto's finally dead' timeline and 'I need a vacation timeline' CANNOT exist. Like Ignitus can see Cynder and Spyro in the book at the end.Īlso, it doesn't work as regular timeline are completely different universe and continuity. The ending of DoTD supports as the chronicler can see into other worlds. In that case, it would be impossible for have two reincarnates. Also Chronicler should really know who Malefor's a reincarnated. Heck, it's stated in TLOS, he's his own character and happens to be a purple dragon. There's no evidence to imply Malefor is the original Spyro as we know it. But in Skylanders, only Spyro, Cynder and Malefor are in that the Skylanders universe. Otherwise, by technicality all the characters should be in that universe aswell. Other characters from the OG trilogy i.e Hunter should not exist in TLOS. Spyro in order for the Rebirth theory to occur. I watched the video before it got as a popular as it did. For a few reasons as there's too many holes in that theory to begin with. His personality is really close to his Classic counterpart imo, but he's clearly a distinct character. Skylanders Academy is a completely different Spyro who was adopted by Eon as a newborn. When Spyro asks Eon, he says something cryptic about Spyro not fully remembering his past, making it seem like he and Malefor are from the Legend timeline.

I haven't read a ton of them, but I've seen scans of a particular scene where Malefor recognizes Spyro, but Spyro doesn't recognize him. One of the books even mentions that Eon found him in Avalar. The only thing that makes it seem like he's either of the older versions is that his backstory mentions his being from another world and having his past adventures chronicled. His powers are all from the Classic series (except the ability to fly continuously), but his backstory mentions being part of a rare line of magical purple dragons, and that he could have learned all the elements, but chose to master Fire.

The others, and the events of the handheld games, aren't mentioned at all.Īs for Spyro, he doesn't match either continuity exactly.
